On July 28, 2020, the first strategic session on development of education in Odessa Oblast organized by the Swiss-Ukrainian Project DECIDE in cooperation with Odessa Regional State Administration was held.
The session was attended by representatives of the Department of Education and Science of Odessa Regional State Administration, State Service of Education Quality in Odessa Oblast, community education managers, heads of educational institutions in Odessa Oblast and experts of DECIDE Project.
“Today, education managers in Ukraine mostly deal with operational issues, strategic documents often have a declarative nature and collect dust on the shelves. However, world experience proves that education is an area that cannot be developed without a clear and realistic strategy. At the regional level, such a strategic document should cover not only the issue of network development, but also the education quality, development of inter-municipal cooperation in the field of education, broad consultation of education managers in communities, as well as public communication”, said Valentyna Poltorak, DECIDE Project Manager.
Serhii Merhut, Head of the Department of Education and Youth Policy of Kiliya Сity Council, said: “A child should feel comfortable in the educational institution. Although comfort is a fairly broad complex, it includes health, educational work, anti-bullying measures, as well as psychologically and emotionally friendly atmosphere. It is impossible to achieve quality education without this”.
