On July 17, 2020, Poltava hosted the advisory session “Division of powers of public authorities in the field of education” organized by the Swiss-Ukrainian Project DECIDE in cooperation with Poltava Regional State Administration. The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Education and Science of Poltava Regional State Administration, State Service of Education Quality of Poltava Oblast, departments of education of the Raion State Administration of oblast, departments of education of village councils, teachers of Poltava Oblast.

Vita Kovalska, Director of the Department of Education and Science of Poltava Regional State Administration, noted that now the network of lyceums is formed taking into account the applicable legislation, but position of the Department is that the school should be geographically as close as possible to students. If lyceum is located in the community, it will be formally transferred to the balance of the Regional State Administration. That is, the Regional State Administration will become the founder, but lyceum should be located in the community.

Vasyl Kompaniets, Deputy Village Chairman of the Executive Committee of Pishchane Village Council: “It is important to take individual approach to the formation of educational network of each community. There cannot be the same approach for everyone. Both the number of students and financial capacity of the community should be taken into account. The voice of communities should be heard!”
