In early October, a strategic session was held to develop a draft Strategy for the Restoration and Development of Education in the Chernihiv Region for 2025-2029. Members of the working group, heads of territorial communities, members of local councils, and heads of education departments from across the region joined the discussion.
The participants reviewed the findings of the analytical stage, which included an in-depth study of the education sector.
The main outcomes of this strategic session are summarized below.
Discussing problems and determining the focus for the future
The study results became the basis for a lively discussion on the challenges in the region’s education sector. This dialogue helped identify key issues that should become the focus of regional policy for the next 5 years.
SWOT analysis
The session participants conducted a SWOT analysis to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the region, as well as identify threats and opportunities that could influence the restoration and development of education in the Chernihiv region.
Key objectives
The session ended with the identification of key priorities, which include child-centered education; accessibility and barrier-free access; safety; quality of education; human resources; and psychological support.
What’s next?
After summarizing all the insights, the document will be finalized and open for public discussion. If you are interested in developing similar strategies for your community, the methodological recommendations from MinRegion and the advanced training course offered by the DECIDE project may be beneficial to you (https://bit.ly/4dyfe8h).
The DECIDE Project has previously conducted similar initiatives in other regions. The Chernihiv Region joined the DECIDE project more than a year ago, which has already helped to develop and implement education development strategies in Luhansk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, and Odesa Regions.
